Discover the Clear Difference: Invisalign at Lone Star Smiles in Lubbock, Texas

If you’re thinking about straightening your teeth but want to skip the metal brackets and wires, Invisalign might be the perfect solution. At Lone Star Smiles in Lubbock, Texas, Dr. Sutak specializes in helping patients acquire beautifully aligned smiles using the comfort and convenience of Invisalign clear aligners. Below, we answer some of the most frequently asked questions from patients considering this modern orthodontic option.
What sets Invisalign apart from traditional braces?
The most notable differences are in visibility and comfort. Instead of metal brackets and wires, Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gently and gradually move your teeth into place. This means no dietary restrictions, easier brushing and flossing, and a nearly invisible appearance. Invisalign also requires fewer office visits, making it a more convenient option for busy lifestyles.
How long does it take to see results with Invisalign?
Most patients start seeing noticeable improvements within just a few weeks. Full procedure time typically ranges from 6 to 18 months, depending on the complexity of the case. Patients who wear their aligners as directed and maintain regular check-ins often achieve faster and more predictable results. Our team will create a custom plan tailored to your smile goals.
What is the Invisalign process to get started?
Getting started with Invisalign is simple. First, you’ll come in for a consultation, where we’ll evaluate your bite, take digital impressions, and determine if you’re a good candidate. We’ll then map out a precise plan using advanced 3D imaging technology. Once your custom aligners are ready (you may need tooth-colored tabs attached to your teeth, which will be removed when completed), you’ll begin wearing them—typically changing to a new set every one to two weeks. We’ll monitor your progress throughout the journey to ensure everything stays on track.
Is Invisalign uncomfortable to wear?
While you may feel slight pressure when starting a new set of aligners, most patients describe the sensation as mild and temporary. There are no wires or brackets to irritate your cheeks or gums, which makes Invisalign significantly more comfortable than traditional braces. Plus, you can take them out for short periods if needed because aligners are removable.
How many hours a day should I wear Invisalign?
Invisalign aligners should be worn for 20 to 22 hours daily to achieve the best results. They should only be removed when consuming food, drinking anything other than water, or brushing and flossing your teeth. Consistent wear is key to keeping your procedure on schedule and achieving the results you’re aiming for.

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water beforehand and only handle one aligner at a time. Please make sure to rinse your new aligners prior to using them. Always inspect your aligners for cracks and deformation before placing them in your mouth to help avoid confusion. Each aligner is engraved with your unique case number a U for the upper and an L for the lower, followed by the stage number. Gently push the aligners over your front teeth. Then apply equal pressure to the tops of your left and right back teeth until the aligner snaps into place. The lower precision wings should be positioned in front of the upper precision wings. When the aligners are in the mouth. Do not chew on precision wings. This may damage them and or create cracks on one side of your mouth. Use your fingertip on the inside of your back molar to slowly pull the aligner from your molars. Repeat this process on the other side of your mouth before trying to completely remove the aligner. Once the aligner is disengaged from your back teeth, you should be able to slowly work your way forward, gently prying the aligner away with your fingertips. Take care in removing your aligners and consult with your doctor if they are difficult to remove. Aligners should be rinsed, brushed, and dried prior to storage in a protective case. We recommend that you store your Invisalign aligners with mandibular advancement in the blue case. This will help protect them from loss and damage. Keep aligner cases clean by hand. Washing them with soap and water. Do not wash them in dishwashing machines. Please ensure to follow instructed guidelines and refer to instructions for use.
